Junot Diaz wins a Pulitzer Prize

In case you missed it, on June 18th Junot Diaz appeared on The Colbert Report to discuss his Pulitzer Prize winning novel, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.

Diaz is an immigrant from the Dominican Republic and his exchange with Colbert is both hilarious and telling.

Colbert jokes that Diaz is “stealing the Pulitzer from an American” and asks if Lou Dobbs has placed a tracking device in Diaz’s prize.

It is also worth mentioning, as Diaz points out during his interview, that Joseph Pulitzer (the prize’s namesake) was also an immigrant…
