ACTION: Prayer Vigil in Ohio

Interfaith Prayer Vigil

September 10th – Ohio Statehouse

On Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 at 5:15 p.m., various local faith groups will host a prayer vigil in front of the Ohio Statehouse to pray for an end to immigration raids and deportation, and call on policymakers to enact humane, just immigration reform.

In the past year, more than 5,000 immigrants have been swept up in workplace raids and forcibly removed from the United States.  Three such raids have taken place in Ohio, apprehending 379 men, women, and children. These raids have separated families and hurt communities.

Join us as we pray for the victims of immigration raids and their families, as well for public officials, that they may have the moral courage stop raids and pass humane, just immigration reform. The vigil is sponsored by Faith Communities Uniting for Peace and The Ohio Council of Churches.
